Children across the the entire school community at Dersingham school in Newham made paper objects relating to journeys and migration. They thought about what it was like to ‘put yourself in the shoes of another’. Over 100 finished pieces were assembled for an exhibition to explore and celebrate Refugee Week. Year 1′s made shirts made from In transit envelopes, postal stamps and rubber stamps. They wrote a letter of welcome which was tucked into the top pockets. Year’s 5 and 6 constructed paper shoes by collaging maps and postal ephemera.
