Project Title: The Institute of Animal Spirit Guides
Client: Fling Arts Festival, Chelmsford
Materials: Wood, fabric, correx, light.
‘The Institute of Animal Spirit Guides’ explores the human desire to create meaning from the random, and sense from chaos. It is a tongue in cheek, participatory piece which seeks to find the line between believing and wanting to believe, and probes our desire for finding answers to our life’s problems and predict the future. Participants took a quiz which allocated them their own animal spirit guide. They were then invited to ask their guide a question in the booth. The piece was developed for The Fling Festival, Chelmsford. The aim of this project was to create a participatory outdoor artwork, which engages audiences and gets people talking to each other.
