A light installation at The Other Place, Royal Shakespeare, Stratford-upon- Avon, part of public programme of events ‘A Winter’s Night’.
Julia Clarke and Emily Tracy were commissioned to lead a series of lantern workshops, procession, and installation for Winter 2016/7 festivities.
St Lucy’s day marked the shortest day of the year during Shakespeare’s day. Using this theme a shadow box was filled with shadows of winter trees, birds and 16th compasses. Hand cut plastics create paper cut style shadows onto stretched fabric with wooden frame. An installation of paper lanterns, and the commissioned shadow box , were installed in the atrium of The Other Place during November, December and January.
Willow artist Julia, ran a series of family workshops leading up to ‘A Winter’s Night’ event when 100 participants took park in a procession along the banks of the Avon from The RSC theatre to The Other place where they were invited to take part in a Ceilidh.
